So, lon g story short, if you buy the D610, have a factory-trained Nikon tech give it a thorough check before using it. I suspect it wasn't the sensor but a firmware issue, but in the process of replacing the sensor they updated the firmware as well. It, too, has been fixed by Nikon at an almost identical price (they simply replaced the sensor units in both of them). HOWEVER, the exact same problem happened with its DX sister camera, my D7100. So in it went to Nikon, and it's been working great ever since. It wasn't until later in the day when I couldn't review many of the images I had shot earlier that I realized there was a problem. The bigger problem was that I didn't know it because all appeared to be fine on the screen. In the middle of shooting a wedding, my D610 suddenly started corrupting some of the images. Great camera, but have it checked out by a technician before using itĪ great camera all around, easy to use and great image quality, but with one caveat. ![]()
